LONDON, 12 August 2025 – RaceiQ, the cutting-edge suite of horse racing data and analytics metrics developed by Ellipse and Racecourse Media Group (RMG), has been shortlisted in the prestigious ‘Tech Breakthrough’ category at the 2025 Leaders Sports Awards.

Recognised for its innovative approach to real-time race data and storytelling, RaceiQ is helping redefine fan engagement in the horse racing industry, using complex modelled metrics to turn detailed GPS tracking data into easily digestible content for broadcasters, participants and racing fans alike.

The suite of metrics has been developed by Ellipse’s data science and engineering specialists, combined with AI and machine learning. RaceiQ has since become integral to Racing TV and ITV Racing’s pre- and post-race analysis by creating informative and engaging content for all.

Roderick Grafton, MD – Horse Racing at Ellipse, said: “We are delighted to have the honour of being shortlisted for the Tech Breakthrough award. This is testament to all of the hard work by the excellent RaceiQ team. It has been an exciting couple of years, working with Racecourse Media Group and building on Ellipse’s success in other sports to bring a truly innovative and new product suite to Horse Racing. We continue to be thrilled with the significant usage of RaceiQ by broadcasters, analysts and journalists as well as racing fans.”

Ed Gretton, Director of Racing at RMG, added: “This nomination is recognition of the giant strides made by the excellent team at Ellipse and our Racing TV production and presenter team. RaceiQ is changing many pre-conceived perceptions of how horse races are run and, importantly for fans and punters, how they could be run. This is thanks to the wide-ranging data on horses’ and jockeys’ performances, along with crucial information such as the draw and track bias.”

The Leaders Sports Awards celebrate companies and individuals shaping the future of sport on a global scale. Winners will be announced at the official awards ceremony on Tuesday, 30 September, at the V&A, London.
